Access Tools Working Group

Goals & objectives

The Access Tools Working Group will focus on initiatives, procedures and tools required to provide immediate access and to preserve the future access to Internet material in a Web archive.

Focus areas are:

• Access tools required for quality control of archived internet material;
• Access tools for navigation of archived internet material;
• Access tools for the analysis of the content of the archived internet material;
• Access tools for the analysis of the structure of the archived internet material;
• Preservation of the ability to access the archived internet material in the future.

Expected deliverables

• Use cases illustrating common understanding of the functionality of a Web archive
• Overview of state-of-the-art Web archive access tools
• Identification and requirement specification of a number of new access tools
• Investigation of data format related issues essential for the preservation of access in the future
